Eight Betawi Icons will Be Displayed in Lebaran Betawi

Jakarta Provincial Government will display eight Betawi icons in Lebaran Betawi event held at Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village (BPP), Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on July 28-30, 2017.

Betawi Consultative Board (Bamus) Head, Zainuddin said, City Government has issued Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 4/2015 about Betawi Culture Preservation and Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 11/2017 about Betawi Culture Icon.

"Since Perda and Pergub have been issued, Betawi people own Jakarta," he expressed at City Hall, Tuesday, (7/25).

8 Betawi Culture Icons Officially Launched

He explained, since Betawi icons are mentioned in Pergub No. 11/2017, those icons will be displayed in Lebaran Betawi. Those icons are ondel-ondel, kembang kelapa, gigi balang ornament, sadariah clothes, kerancang kebaya, Betawi batik, kerak telor, and bir pletok.

"We will display eight Betawi icons in Lebaran betawi. Thus many people can know Betawi icons," he mentioned.

Jakarta Secretary, Saefullah hopes various businessmen could attend to promote Betawi icons in Lebaran Betawi event. "I hope creative businessmen could come thus Betawi icon can be spread over Jakarta," he said.

He also wanted, each hotels in Jakarta can put Betawi icons for socializing it. At least put ondel-ondel at hotel lobby can help," he closed.
